The author shares an intense and courageous story about his experience during a four-month overseas assignment on a military base in the middle of the Jordanian desert. He accounts for the struggle of wanting to give up after experiencing sexual harassment and, after bravely reporting the escalating behavior instigated by a Canadian captain, found himself in a situation of deciding whether to continue fulfilling his overseas assignment, return home, or be transferred to a different location. He decides to remain at the facility, with the fear of never being allowed to engage in another overseas assignment if he decides to return home, only to find himself in an environment that remains uncomfortable after promises made by the Canadian military to remove all identified participants assisting the captain’s efforts in sexually harassing the author are broken. After fulfilling his overseas assignment obligation, he sets out on a vacation to clear his mind from the experience before returning home to his spouse. During the one-week vacation and the immediate counseling from a work psychologist and chaplain, he finds himself on a path of healing and growth. He chooses forgiveness over hatred and successfully finds inner peace.

Author Biography

The author was born into a military family with years of traveling and relocation under his belt before the age of 18. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography from the University of Central Missouri, a Master’s Degree in Geography from Minnesota State University-Mankato, a Master’s Degree in Strategic Intelligence from the National Intelligence University, and a Master’s Degree in Geospatial Intelligence from the Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Green resides in the mid-Atlantic Region of the United States, where both he and his spouse enjoy traveling to various domestic and international destinations, experiencing rich cultures and cuisine.
