Hector the hermit crab is feeling crabby. Can YOU help Hector to feel better?

Hector is a hermit crab. His shell isn’t swirly and whirly like the other crabs’ homes. Hector’s shell is old, and way too small. He needs to find a  new shell home to live in. So Hector looks high and low on the beach for a nice new shell to move into but the only homes Hector finds are rubbish, and nothing is right. Can YOU help Hector find a new home?

Feeling Crabby is a humorous debut picture book from exciting new author-illustrator Evie Snow, about a disgruntled crab trying to find the perfect new home, that also contains an important and mindful eco message about keeping the oceans clean.

Author Biography

Evie is an illustrator and designer from Suffolk, UK. Evie’s fascination with crabs began when she stumbled into a museum dedicated to them whilst on holiday in Margate, Kent. Having grown up by the sea, she was well acquainted with the pinchy little creatures, but had underestimated their importance in the world. Maintaining our oceans, contributing to modern medicines and scuttling the earth for millions of years is pretty cool! She hopes ‘Feeling Crabby!’ will remind readers that crabs can come in all different shapes and sizes just like us. And like Hector, ‘Feeling Crabby’s main character, it’s okay if sometimes we need a little more shell-f love! Evie was one of the winners of the Carmelite Prize 2021, a national illustration competition led by Hachette Children’s Book Group, and was nominated for the AOi’s 10 UK Illustration Graduates to Watch list in 2022.
