At the threshold of the 15th and 16th centuries, Milan trembled with anticipation – a new artistic breath rising from workshops where tradition and daring visions collided. This narrative retraces the journey of a major figure of the Milanese school, trained in Venice under the influence of Antonello da Messina, shaped alongside his brother Cristoforo, and in 1507 becoming one of the very first Italian painters to work in France, most notably at the Château de Gaillon.

With clear yet refined prose, the author brings to life the genesis of Solario’s masterpieces – from The Virgin of the Green Cushion to Salome with the Head of Saint John the Baptist – and unveils his French years, when he became a true bridge of the Renaissance between two worlds.
