Altered Vows is a four-part erasure/blackout poem where poet Kelsey Bigelow takes the reader on her post-divorce healing journey. She discovered that using the exercise of erasure poetry revealed the underlying self-love hidden within her marriage. This poem erases wedding vows, the script to the marriage ceremony, and the divorce decree. What comes of the process reminds us all about how important it is to choose ourselves as equally as we choose romantic love.
