"Repetitive hack and slash game"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

X-Blades combines impressive anime style animation with a typical hack and slash style game-play. Fun to play to start with, the repetitiveness of the story line can get rather boring after going through the same room more than once on your quest for ancient relics.

Overall: Graphics and Design: 4/5 Game-play and storyline: 2/5 Music and Sound: 3/5

Final rating: 3/5

"Awesome game! Loved it!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

A very well put together game. The graphics were great. The game play was really good. I used a pc xbox 360 controller and found it much easier than mouse and keyboard. The game situations were at time challenging but overall very “do-able”. The only thing I can say bad about the game is the costume of the main character – a bit weird. But beside that, X-Blades is in my top 5 games :)

"A basic, no-nonsense hack-and-slash."
3 stars"

X-Blades is a very simple, linear hack-and-slash adventure game. While the backgrounds are diverse and beautifully animated, the human figures leave something to be desired; the animators have attempted to combine Devil May Cry 4 with a cell-shaded anime, and the result is visually awkward.

However, the easy but effective gameplay controls make up for it, resulting in a game that is nothing to write home about but is fun enough to be worth a go. Story-seekers wont be impressed and completionists wont be thrilled, since there's only two possible endings and a couple of unlockable outfits, but if you go into it realising that it's not really trying to be anything but Devil May Cry with breasts then you might just enjoy it.

Ayumi is an adventurous relic hunter in search of an artifact believed to hold the fate of the world in its grasp. Hidden ages ago by a fearful king, the magical orb is the object of curiosity, ambition, and fear from those few who know of its existence. But there are those, like Ayumi, that would stop at nothing to harness the power of this orb and use it to gain fame, power, and fortune.

Relying only on her fighting skill, pistol blades, and magical abilities, Ayumi must endure countless battles against creatures and other fortune-seekers determined to prevent her from escaping with the relic alive.
