Description

Are you dealing with the loss of a loved one? 'Wish you were here' is a light-hearted children's book about missing someone, and is a beautiful story that has helped so many families deal with the loss of a loved one. It tells the tale of a pregnant lady who really, really misses her own dad. As her own baby grows inside her, so does her longing to have her dad back by her side. One day the lady has a dream where her dad explains exactly why he can't be there for the birth of his grandchild, leaving his daughter with a much deeper understanding of why things are the way they are. This book is as much for adults as it is for children, and is written and illustrated as a way for families to talk about those special people they wish were still in their lives. It makes a wonderful gift for pregnant women who has lost a parent but can really be applied to so many experiences of mourning. In beautiful and subtle ways the story touches on themes of inter-generational loss, death and mourning, dealing with the loss of a parent, loss felt during pregnancy, recurring mourning as well as the After Life. Making it a highly unique children's book on death and bereavement. The author (who is an artist as well) also illustrated this book with whimsical images that will delight young minds and ease sore hearts. At the end of the book there are even some simple ideas for engaging art projects that will encourage conversation around the family's personal loss of a loved one. There are so few good children's books on death and bereavement out there, but 'Wish You Were Here' is truly a bright spark on a dark day.Follow the author on facebook: https: //www.facebook.com/Andy-Cohen-TEDx-speaker-Author-Psychoanalytic-Candidate-109699627407159/
