Description

Once described as "the real thing" by a professor of English at the University of Ottawa, Brian Wood's new book is an attempt to stand apart from much of the poetry written today. This collection of prose and poetry pays homage to many of Wood's favorites-Larkin, Dante, Frost, Auden and Donne-while striking a voice of his own-quiet, subdued, but sometimes unsparing. Some pieces are about history, others about the modern church, others about faith and belief, but the best poems are probably the ones about love itself.

Author Biography:

Brian Wood is a literary agent who lives in Vancouver, BC. After graduating with a MA in English from the University of Toronto in 1994, he moved to Vancouver in 1996 and has been there ever since. He worked as a local buyer for Chapters and then Indigo. He sold his first agented book, "Where People Feast," in 2006 and has since sold 55 non-fiction titles. He married his publicist, Rachel Sentes, in 2013. She has two dogs, Daisy and Pumpkin, and they (and they alone) are responsible for any solecisms in the text of this book. His first book, "Winter Walk," was published by Sakura Publishing in 2013.
