Steven Spielberg's World War One drama, adapted from the 1982 novel by Michael Morurgo, is not entirely family friendly. There are some fairly nasty emotional moments in this story which revolves around love and relationships. Although the prime relationship is broken early on by the separation of young Albert and his beloved horse, Joey, one is held to the turns and tribulations of the plot by the deep desire to see the two re-united. The cinematography is wonderful and the action scenes compelling. I found myself sometimes leaning forward to the screen, drawn into the immediacy and compelling nature of this film. I sighed with satisfaction at the end. The wife cried. Enough said.

Fantastic movie really brought me to tears. Would highly recommend this movie as it is an amazing story
For lovers of horses, and good acting, this movie is a real gem.
I bought this thinking it would be fairly good, but it was so much more, it was amazing. It showed just a small insight to the plight of horses in WW1. Also the nightmare of war. I love horses. This really touched my heart.
Oh-my-gosh!! such an awesome movie the storyline is one which keeps you enthralled till the end, with some heart wrenching scenes.
