Description

Understanding and correctly using vocabulary is an important aspect of everyday life for all of us. Why then was I having difficulty learning new words to improve my speaking and writing? I set out to discover a better way to personally link new vocabulary words to myself. In the process, I discovered a visually structured way to engage in learning that helped me. Perhaps Visual Verbiage (V. V.) can help you or someone you know discover the personal links necessary to learn and memorize vocabulary words long term. I demonstrate how to take the twenty-six words and pictures enclosed and create personal links that help you retain information. Using the unique, "hands-on" flip graphic organizer will help you organize your thoughts so that you can create how the word uniquely links to you. "If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a word can be worth a thousand pictures." - Amy L. Levis I began Visual Verbiage (V.V.) for my own use but realized that many others could benefit from this type of Structured Literacy (SL) learning. Visual Verbiage's intended audience includes fifth and sixth grades, Middle and High School students; adults and older adults; adults and children with Dyslexia; people that are hard of hearing and deaf; and people in need of a Structured Literacy (SL) approach to learning, which includes visual, kinesthetic, and auditory elements. You can choose to purchase the books and engage in drawing or coloring on paper or perhaps you'll enjoy downloading single-page words from my website to add text and color from an app. So many apps are available, all you have to do is choose your favorite one and begin! There are supportive materials available on my website that can be used to enhance Visual Verbiage learning that include the Visual Verbiage Graphic Organizer, individual word worksheets, as well as the silly Visual Verbiage eyeglasses. Instructional videos are also available through my website and on YouTube. Visual Verbiage (V.V.) will help you understand how to personally link to vocabulary words, thereby making it a useful tool for reading and writing. It is specifically designed as a new approach to memorizing for those who have difficulty learning. In addition, you'll begin to develop a heightened awareness of new vocabulary words in ordinary print. I like to say that you're never too old or young to ride the Visual Verbiage (V.V.) waves and succeed! Amy is an elementary teacher with a passion to develop enjoyable learning experiences for her students, no matter what their age! She grew up in upstate New York, a few hours from the Catskill Mountains where she spent many childhood hours developing creative projects. She continues to use her talent and creative flair to help others. "Ride the Visual Verbiage Waves." - Amy L. Levis
