New taking from all theft [itch Obfervations as are to the parpofe; as alfo from the Hiffory of the Buccaneers in Eflglilh and French 5 from De Luf fan's Adventuresfif the free-boorers; from F. F. Gemelli, Techo, (seppe, and other Voyages of the Mifiionaries 3 and from a Spanilh Manufcript lately Tranflated into French rwhat relates to the New Defign, we have in One View prefinted the Reader with whatever concerns the Coafis, Coun tries and lflands; the Produfi, Trade and Pre Tent; State of all 'the Places within the Limits of the New A& of Pafliament, to which we have entirely confin'd oar fe'lver; and by comparing all car own Anthers one with another, and with Foreign Writers, 7tis hop'd we may reafonably afirm there is nothing extant in any Language [0 exalt and fa proper to inform the Conee'rn'a' 172 this Company, as this Treatije, which is defign'a' for their Service. All the Voyages that have been formerly or lately Pabli/h'd, are crowded with Accoants of Countries that have little or no Relation to theft included in the A61; for where there is moft of that Relation, there is not a foarth Part hat treats of other Places 'and Trades; mojt 'of them [a uncertain or'obfitlete, that withont the fame Trouble we have' been at, and which thil will fave the Reader, 'tis itnpojfible for any to have a jnfl ldaea of the Settlements that may be made, the Trades that'may be carry'd on, and the Advantages that may ari/h from this south-sea-company.
