"Must have for RPG lovers!"
4 stars"

Valkyrie Profile is a beautiful game with great voice acting, music and a stunning story. It really is unique and I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good RPG. The graphics are not the best, but far better than I would have thought. It is an addicting and fun game, I love it!

"I was addicted"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

As the title says, I was addicted. This game is totally underrated and should rightfully be very popular. It fulfills so many dreams for RPG fans.

Having played a lot of turn based games where you just press x and watch them fight, I found this game delivers a lot more punch in the battle system category. You control four characters in battle and each of them have one of the four special buttons. But that's not all, you actually can get a different result from pressing certain buttons first, and attack twice in some cases, and unleash combos at other times. For example, if an enemy can block weapon attacks but is thrown off by magic, you hit them first with the mage character, then when the enemy is off guard quickly attack with the other three characters. Not only does it lead to different strategies compared to normal turn based RPGs, but just watching all your characters attack in quick succession on the screen is lots of fun. Plus their special attacks are AWESOME and their catchphrases take a long time to get old.

Also, concerning battle, the First Aid technique is unlike anything you'll find in any other RPG. Characters with this activated will passively heal their comrades for a significant amount and still be able to attack. This is so much more enjoyable than having a white mage character for instance.

Now this may sound funny, considering that the game is pretty much almost a straight port from PSone to PSP, but the graphics are beautiful. Yes they are 2D (except some important cut scenes) but the colours and textures are wonderful, and the character and enemy design shows that this game was well put together in an aesthetic sense as well.

I enjoyed the music, but it may annoy some players as it can be very J-pop and over-dramatic at times. Don't whine, just turn it down.

The stories of the characters you pick up as you go are quite involving, and you actually get to be a bit attached with them as you raise them. Even after you let them go, you can track their progress in the Ragnarok wars. The storyline as a whole is exciting and mysterious. I love that it is divided into chapters and you are updated at each chapter's close with the stats for the holy war that is raging.

If there's anything bad I can say about this game, not that I have to, it's that leveling can be pretty steep, especially in the harder game modes. This isn't always bad, if you want a challenging play. Even so, you can still get through the game without having to do too much bare ‘training’.

GET IT. Seriously. It has different game modes for all kinds of players. It definitely has something for everyone.
