Author Biography:

John Barton is Oriel and Laing Professor of the Interpretation of Holy Scripture at the University of Oxford. His numerous publications include Reading the Old Testament, People of the Book? and The Letter and the Spirit. He is also the editor of The Cambridge Companion to the Bible and co-editor of The Oxford Bible Commentary.
