Ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances: stories of people who have survived cancer and those who are terminally ill. Written by a young woman whose parents both lived with and then died of cancer in their prime, this is the book she wished she had had while coping with their illnesses and subsequent death. Twenty people from all walks of life, with different cancers, treatments, attitudes and backgrounds share their tales. There are stories of cancer from two to eighty, and each person's experience of cancer is unique.

Karen McMillan is the author of Unbreakable Spirit: Facing the challenge of cancer in NZ (Tandem) and Love in Aotearoa. She is also a survivor of anorexia.
