Our flimsy microsoft headset that came with the console only lasted about 3 months before it stopped working (we weren't at all rough with it) We needed to find a cheap replacement & decided on this. We had a Turtle Beach headset on the old Xbox 360 which worked well so we were happy to go with Turtle Beach again this time for the Xbox one. Pros: It's certainly appears to be more sturdy than the Microsoft set. Features a bit more padding for comfort. Adjustable mic works well. Plugs staight into the newer controllers so no adapter needed.
Cons: Ear volume is a little quieter than what we're used to. Because it's better constructed it is slightly heavier than the light weight Microsoft set. The volume and mute controls are on the cord rather than adapter type plug on the original microsoft headset which plugged into the bittom of the controller – finding the mute button/volume slider meant looking away from the screen momentarily.
I'm summary – this is a good cheap single-ear headset that does everything it's supposed to do without a lot of fuss.
