Two pianos, eight hands. Estrella is Judy Lee, Somi Kim, Lorelle McNaughton, Cindy Tsao. Tui, the group’s first album, comprises compositions by David Hamilton, Gareth Farr, Leonie Holmes, Eve de Castro-Robinson, John Rimmer, Sarah Ballard and David Hamilton.
Formed in 2010, when the four were all piano performance students at the University of Auckland, the initial impetus for the formation of the ensemble was to play the works of British composer Graham Fitkin. Since then they have given concerts throughout New Zealand, recorded for radio and television, and had many works written for them, some of which are available here for the first time on CD. In 2011 they were winners of the ROSL/Pettman International Scholarship, resulting in a highly successful concert tour of UK where they performed in the Edinburgh Fringe and Dartingon Festivals, and gave concerts in many other venues, including St Martin-in-the-Fields and St James' Piccadilly in London
