"The Decepticons have actually won!!!"
4 stars"

Resurgence in the Transformers franchise arguably came from Michael Bay's movies with Megan Fox. Renewed interest in our favourite robots have the Transformers appealing to the newer generation, also with the help of IDW's acquired licience. For those that remember the 80s cartoon and some of Marvel's run, IDW's TF universe is a new continuity. It is a rebooted Transformers universe. If you haven't read Infiltration, Escalation or Devastation then All Hail Megatron is a good starting point. It picks up a year after the last TF arc. Its a much edgier premise that the Decepticons have actually WON. They have defeated the Autobots. Eventhough this is a new storyline, Optimus Prime still manages to die. Volume 1 of All Hail Megatron mainly focuses on the Decepticons conquering the planet. Its mostly set up and not anything big happens yet. Sometimes there is a bit too much focus on the humans, but it does give a fresh perspective. Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream, Astrotrain, The Constructicons and the Insecticons are the ones that mostly feature. The Autobots feature as well although more sparingly. Whats a big issue in this arc is the tension between the Autobots following their defeat. There is a lack of trust within them and they suspect their defeat was due to an internal betrayer. It is not revealed who this is but it is hinted as to who it may have been. No matter how old you are, you can still enjoy Transformers. Reading their adventures are the closest thing you'll get to playing with them as a kid.
