Tried this unit to improve the WiFi on an older dual core laptop, but with mixed results.
PROs: ** Small size – really convenient when poking out the side of a laptop, ** 802.11N compatible ** Low priced adapter
CONs: ** Runs quite hot, probably due to the small size. ** For an older computer, we didn't see an improvement in browsing speed – USB & other issues may have slowed things down, so hard to comment. ** Getting the driver software enabled on XP was tricky – other web reviews have also commented on this. You may need someone experienced to help set this up.
Conclusion It works, convenient size, and fairly cheap. But maybe not the best option for old laptop computers that already run a bit hot.
It works fine and it auto installed drivers on windows 10 I am something like 15meters give or take away in another room from where our wifi modem is and I get my max internet speed and 100% signal
I would not recommend to buy thing because it is not fast, and sometimes disconnects and very slow Please don't buy and save your money
Worked great for me. Then it stopped working so I tried to update the drivers to find out the drivers are not for Windows 10
The metal skeleton's hooks inside do not hold onto the external casing sternly enough. This dongle has no grip to account for its low profile, thus it was slippery. So, I tended to dig close to the port and then pull. This amplified the the first issue. Stronger hooks or grip would have been more favorable.
Device works well with Mac OS X 10.12.5
From what I had tested;
- Wifi connection is around 15–40MBPS
- Hotspot connection is around 5–20MBPS
I would love if it worked faster to be useful for my online businesses and will be testing it again in the capital to see if its any better on hotspot.
Other then that, I will say if you need a WiFi connection and don't have ethernet or an ethernet dongle, enjoy the nights of HD YouTube and probably not too much else.
You plug it in and you can connect to wireless networks. It's that simple.
Keeps on having problems.
Works excellently just plug into your PC and now you have internet. However it won’t connect to any 5GHz Networks since it’s only supports 2.4GHz. Overall good product, does what it says.
Plugged it in, smashed in the password – BLAM…Internet. Sussed.
A failed Surface 3 Pro wireless. Under 20 seconds and I was back!!
