A monument of brick and stone, the Town Hall remains central to conducting Town Business for over a hundred years. Dedicated in 1894, it has cast an impressive shadow over the village and Monument Square since its completion in 1896. As well as a meeting hall, its offices have contained a bank, a court house, and jail, stage shows, a theatre, our library, the fire and police stations, many graduation ceremonies, and numerous recreational activities and is also commonly known as the Opera House. Today the Town Hall offices are staffed by the Town Clerk, Tax Collector, Finance Office, Land Use and Property Records, Supervisors of the Checklist, Town Administrator, Welfare Office and Selectmen.
