Tiger Woods 2003 was such a great game that it was easy to assume that the 2004 iteration wouldn't really be a worthy purchase for owners of last year's version. Fortunately, EA Sports have managed to add enough new features to keep TW2004 entertaining.
Perhaps the most rewarding new feature is the changes and additions which have been made to the equipment purchasing. A huge array of items are now available for purchase including the obvious golfing equipment – balls, drivers, fairway woods, irons, putters, gloves and such. Also available is a good selection of accessories for your custom-made golfer (the new golfer creation is extremely good – customising your golfer actually gets tedious by the time you're done), including wrist watches, various jewelery, sunglasses and so on.
The actual gameplay is pretty much unchanged from last year, which is a good thing. EA seem to have taken the correct “if it ain't broke..” approach and have only made tweaks to the already brilliant control system. Once again the replay value is pretty high as you need to win a fair few tournaments before you'll have the best equipment in your collection and the best skill attributes under your cap (if you bought one).
