The publishers have noticed, with some interest, that the author of the work has, in his new and stereotyped edition, adopted the form of the Amer ican edition, as being more portable and convenient and also that he has incorporated, though silently, various additions which were introduced by the American Editor. It is proper here to state, that the present edition has been prepared under the editorial care of Prof. J ohn L. Lincoln, of Brown University. With these remarks, the volume is submitted to the public, in the hope that, in its enlarged and improved form, it will reach a still wider range of circulation and usefulness.
