Description

Highlights of the Book 1. This book deals with recent advances in power cable thermal modeling and steady-state temperature rise calculations which employ the finite-element method in a student friendly format. 2. A general derivation of the finite element equations by the method of weighted residuals (Galerkin's method) is introduced. 3. FORTANT language has been used extensively for thermal analysis. 4. Temperature distribution in a cable has been dealt with in detail. 5. The model is applied to one 3-core under ground cables of 6.6 kV and the temperatures obtained are found to be within the permissible limit in terms of overall temperature rise computed from the resulting loss density distribution.
