This well-researched guidebook is the only information available on the Whaleback, a region in the Alberta foothills a little over an hour's drive southwest of Calgary. It is sure to spur considerable interest in the area among the local outdoor community. All of the routes described were walked at least once in 1996 by the author. Landowners and conservationists were consulted on such issues as access, walking routes, protected areas and environmental impact.
