Description

The Washington Conference was one of the most celebrated diplomatic meetings between the two world wars. In late 1921, representatives of the world's leading powers met to establish a naval arms control regime and to bring stability to East Asia. Their deliberations took almost three months. At the time, the work of the delegates received almost general approval. However, the agreements ultimately failed.
