Basic procedures such as cleaning a wound, poulticing, giving an intramuscular injection, feeding a sick horse and disinfecting stable and clothing are laid out in a step-by-step format. Advice is given on such matters as choosing horse insurance and having a horse vetted, and topics such as drugs and the competition horse are discussed.

Author Biography

After obtaining an Honours degree in agricultural science at Oxford University, Sue Devereux qualified as a vet at Bristol University in 1983. With many years of experience as a horse owner and show jumping competitor, she moved into equine practice where she has built up a popular reputation for her thorough and dedicated approach.
