Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (Ulyanov) has entered history as the continuer of the teaching of Marx. The authors of Lenin's biography legitimately assert that "one of the sources of the formation of Lenin's personality as a man and a revolutionary was the democratic atmosphere, quite progressive for the time, that reigned in the Ulyanov family." The authors of this book, staff members of the Ulyanovsk Branch of the Central Lenin Museum, give a brief account of what is known about the Simbirsk period (1869-87) in the life of the Ulyanovs, and examine some of the most important circumstances which were responsible for the development of Lenin's revolutionary world outlook.
