A member of that committee prepared a re port on the study of history in the elementary schools which has not received the attention it deserves. Besides giving an excellent summary of the conditions under which his tory was then taught, Miss Lucy M. Salmon outlined a six year course of study which was thought suitable for the ele mentary schools of the country. In grades three and four the biographies of great men were to be presented.
