"MUCH better!"
5 stars"

The graphics, I must stress, are what I believe to be the biggest change. No more pixellated “I can't really see whats happening” moments, and everything runs VERY smooth. The animation video-like moments are great when your sim gets engaged, married or any other big ceremony.

Another big plus is that your sims no longer stay an adult/child their whole life. With the new system, they are born, become children, teens, adults, elders and then finally die. Did they lead a happy and fufilling life? It's up to you.

"Amazing"
5 stars"

I bought The Sims 1 6 months before I got The Sims 2. I liked The Sims 1 but it was basic with the start up only. The Sims 2 is much better.

With The Sims 2, You can install 17 other expansion and stuff packs.

The Create-a-Family is much much better. You can choose your Sims hair style and colour (red, blonde, brown or black) and skin tone (even aliens!!!). There are 5 aspirations (Fortune, Romance, Family, Knowledge or Popularity) (12 Star Signs) Much bettter.

The Object range is huge with furniture modern or old.

"Worth the wait"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The sims 2 was totally worth the wait and i'm already excited thinking about the cool expansions they can come up with.

The whole ageing process is a plus and I can't get over some of the weird things that the sims do.

"The made The Sims more fun"
4 stars"

This is what the original Sims should have been like to play. The only complaints I have are the insensitivity of the mouse when rotating the camera, and the camera controls can be more difficult to use than they need to be.

What I really like is now when you use the buy catalog or build menus, you can expand the catalogs so you can see ALL items in a group at one time. Also when painting floors or walls or the outside of your house they have done something wonderful – basically if you hold the shift key in a room or on a wall you get a preview of what the wall will look like and a single mouse click will paste it down. Another wonderful improvement is in the creation of rooms, instead of having to build each wall separate you can now just drag out a box in the size of the room you want. Something else great is being able to purchase items in different colors, or being able to choose and cook different meals (based on your skills).

There is a strange quirk in the 3D which is that you STILL cant place items at any angle you want. I can understand why you couldn't do that in 2D, but this is 3D and it makes you wonder why they bothered going to 3D with all the great improvements in the gameplay.

"So much more than The Sims 1"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

An absolutely fantastic game. Much more of an experience than the first game – even when creating your characters, you have what seems like a million different choices right down to the shape of eyes etc. Once in game view, everything is much the same – BUT BETTER! More view options, build options, everything! Would definitely recommend.

"The Greatest Simulation Game Ever."
5 stars"

This game is great fun. The most engaging part is the huge amount of choices. Jobs, Family, Relationships, and much more at your fingertips. And with so many expansions, it just keeps getting better. Definitely worth the buy! With this great cost, it's a bargain!

It can run on most computers, no need to upgrade to a PC with gaming capabilities. An office PC could run this. Just don't play in the office, you may get fired – just as big a threat in this awesome game!

Description

Guiding your Sims through "Life's Big Moments" takes on new importance, as players now get a "Life Score" to measure how well they are playing each individual Sim. The decisions that players make throughout the lifetime of their Sims now have an impact on their long-term success or failure. A choice made as a toddler has a direct effect on the teen and adult Sim they become. Will players be able to successfully lead their Sims through such important events as a first step, first crush, or marriage proposal, all while the clock is ticking?

The Sims in The Sims 2 are more aware and responsive to both other Sims and their surroundings. Sims truly come to life expressing moods and feelings through more realistic body animations and for the first time facial animations. They form complex relationships and are able to distinguish between family and friends, platonic friendships and romantic love. Sims in The Sims 2 now have DNA. Passing along physical characteristics and traits to their offspring, Sims both resemble and behave like their ancestors. As in real life, the appearance of the Sims now changes over time. In addition to getting older, a Sim that spends too much time on the couch will develop a paunch and a Sim that works out will enjoy rock solid abs.

An entirely new 3-D engine makes the world of The Sims 2 more life-like and dynamic. The Sims 2 will also introduce an all-new "Create-A-Sim" feature. This allows you to customize the facial features of your Sim with a few simple clicks, to a level of detail never realized before. In The Sims 2, players are now able to build dwellings over two stories and have the ability to coordinate and customize the homes of their Sims to a new degree of design with all-new furniture, lighting and objects.

System Requirements:

600 MHz P3 processor; 256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98 or Windows 2000; At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space; Nvidia GeForce 2 / ATI Radeon 7000 or better.
