One night when I was lying in my warm and cosy bed, A shadow at the window stood the hair upon my head. I grabbed my biggest teddy bear and lifted up the blind, And what I saw was so unreal it nearly blew my mind! Species: Pumpkinus Muncher Plentius Common Name: Pumpkin Eater Habitat: Pondicherry, India, but known to travel considerable distances for a decent feed of pumpkins. Diet: A voracious feeder will eat almost any fruit and vegetables. Broccoli? Yes, bring it on. Butter Beans? Absolutely, can't get enough of them. Apples? Known to eat dozens in one sitting. Pumpkins? Get out of its way. Grandad s pumpkins? Will eat the lot. Stand well clear.

Author Biography

Bruce Atherton has been telling tall stories mostly about himself for more than thirty years. To pay the bills he s also told them for governments, newspapers and sheep drench companies. He lives in Melbourne with his wife and two children. His hobbies are making curries, mowing the lawn and daydreaming about playing football again. He is the author of the popular The Billycart Ride, illustrated by Keith McEwan; the delightful picture book Tough Ol Teddy (2007), illustrated by Elise Hurst, and the Lothian junior fiction novel, Al Dentay and the Incredible Spaghetti Machine (2007). Ben Redlich has been drawing for as long as he can remember. He works as a freelance artist/illustrator and has several picture books to his credit: The Shikker Co-La Cows by Andy Small, Jack and the Aliens and Jack and the Skyhook by Damien Broderick, The Great Montefiasco by Colin Thompson, Circus Carnivore by Mark Svendsen and, most recently, Whacko the Chook, also written by Mark Svendsen. Ben also has a strong passion for independent film-making, animation, puppets, painting, sculpting and music. Ben lives in Gordon Park, Brisbane.
