Pamela Shields, who has a degree in art history, is a magazine journalist. She lives and works in Hertfordshire and has tutored courses for the WEA, U3A, art history, theatre administration and guiding for tourists. She has earned a crust as an art teacher in comprehensive schools, a tour guide in London and Paris and as press officer for the Prince's Trust.
