Love this movie been looking for it for so long!

"Really good! For adults and children, and those in between :-)"
4 stars"

For an old movie this is pretty awesome. Romantic, humorous and with enough action to keep you entertained this tells the story of a princess who fell in love with a stable boy, a stable boy who fell in love with a princess :-) A mad royal guy who wanted to marry the princess, a Spanish swordsman looking to avenge his father, and a big guy who........I can't remember what he wanted to do, but he was friends with the Spanish guy. Anyway this is a movie that will entertain both children and adults.

Description

The Princess Bride is a 1987 American romantic comedy adventure film directed by Rob Reiner, based on the 1973 novel of the same name by William Goldman. Critically acclaimed and equally loved by adults & children!

The Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright Penn) is saddened by the disappearance of her true-love Westley (Cary Elwes), and finds that she now has no choice but to become engaged to the evil Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon). But Westley soon arrives back on the scene and, along with his mismatched band of adventurers, sets off on a daring mission to rescue his beloved. The film also stars Mandy Patinkin as a Spanish cavalier and Billy Crystal as a crazy magician.

The Princess Bride Reviews

“Since its release more than 15 years ago, The Princess Bride has often been copied, but never equaled.” ReelViews

“A witty, even clever-clever, exercise in deconstructing fairytales that became something of a cult with fans of its ironic/comic charms.” Film4

“As a good fairy tale should, The Princess Bride teaches but never preaches. It's a lively, fun-loving, but nevertheless epic look at the nature of true love.” Washington Post

“A hilarious mixture of Errol Flynn swashbuckler and Monty Python send-up…When it comes to pleasing both kids and adults, you can't do much better.” TV Guide

“Patinkin's performance is especially touching. He can say, "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die” – and make you laugh, cry and cheer at the same time. The movie, two hours of pure enchantment, has the same effect." People Magazine

“As you watch this enchanting fantasy, feel free to be thrilled or to giggle, as you wish. This time, Happily Ever After lasts 98 minutes.” Time

“Post-modernist fairy tale. There is no other way to describe this genuinely funny (and fun) comedy.” Sci-fi Movie Page

“It is filled with good-hearted fun, with performances by actors who seem to be smacking their lips and by a certain true innocence that survives all of Reiner's satire.” Roger Ebert

“An unexpected delight for all the family.” Radio Times

“Heroic fantasies, we often feel, should be lighter than air, hot as dragon fire, fast as a sword in sunlight. And that's mostly what we get from the delightful The Princess Bride – along with some bracing humor and foolery.” LA Times
