The subcommittee is meeting today to continue our series of hearings on the proposed National Highway System and ancillary issues relating to Highway and Transit Programs. Today's hearing is a continuation of the one conducted on Tuesday focusing on individual transportation projects that have been brought to the subcommittee's attention. The Chair will lay the ground rules for the witnesses throughout the course of the day. All testimonies will be made a part of the record as if actually read. Witnesses are urgently requested to sum marize within the five-minute period and realize that any exten sion of that period is only causing problems with witnesses later on into the day and into the evening.
