Description

The town of Maesford looks down upon the 'village that vanished', a remote, rural community with mountainous surroundings. It is from here that the enigmatic man from Maesford comes. Aledd Vaughan lives in isolation in a cottage with the love of his life, Lynne, hoping one day to have his own pub.By contrast, the residents of the town on the hill are at odds with the traditional ways of farming people. Aledd Vaughan is regarded with suspicion. The snobbish Sylvia Bailey considers him 'funny' and 'a warlock'. However, for Sylvia Bailey's daughter Elida, the man from Maesford holds a fascination that takes her away from the unhappiness of domestic life.Aledd has his own culture and tradition; he does things his way. The anachronistic 'man from Maesford' is the centrepoint for a tale of contrasts in character and lifestyle.
