Meet Emma Wheaton, an elf-loving eleven-year-old who cares too much about the opinion of Becca Browne, a braggart classmate and royal pain in Emma's butt. Emma blames her dad for the misery she endures at school and general ruining of her life. To cope, she confides her troubles to Shimmar, a pine cone elf decoration that she crafted at school and sprinkled with magic dust. Emma's emotions erupt one night and hurtful words fly, which is unfortunate for her because Flyson, an elf monitor from a far-away land, has been sending real-time reports on Emma's unsavory attitude back to his village. Like Emma, Flyson must face a crisis of his own when a local group of angry elves wreak havoc in his village. As the situation quickly deteriorates, both at Emma's and Flyson's, was it simple coincidence or Shimmar's magic when elf and human world's collide with extraordinary and shocking consequences - or perhaps it was a combination of both? The Magic of Shimmar is an exciting realistic-fantasy, subtly built on themes of modern-day family pressures, acceptance, the gaining of values and the power of faith, friendship and family. Kids will love this magical story.
