Description

If you've ever been held captive in a long meeting, sat for hours in a doctor's waiting room, or been stranded at the airport, you're not alone, and this book has the remedy. A journey that both inspires and entertains, The Little Book of Sketching shows you how to pass the time through life's daily events using nothing more than a pencil, a sketchpad, and your imagination. Filled with quirky, witty sketches and plenty of fun, aspiring sketchers will discover how to turn life's boring events into inspired artistic moments. Simple drawing ideas and minimal tools make off-the-cuff sketching accessible to anyone, anywhere. Beginning with a brief introduction to the artist's process, readers will then be treated to a plethora of scenarios and situations from which to draw inspiration for their own doodled artwork; moreover, the illustrations and prompts are sure to induce a smile, reduce stress, and deliver creative inspiration throughout your daily life.

Author Biography:

Artist, procrastinator, drinker of tea. For as long as I can remember I have always been a doodler. When I was 5, I won an art competition for drawing stick horses. In college, I made prints with angry (and sometimes rude) words and drawings. Now that I'm older and not so angry, I want to make doodles and illustrations that give joy not only to me but to the people looking at them. I have always used doodles to portray my artistic ramblings, as I feel it is the most honest and pure way for me to get my ideas down on paper. I collect phrases, quotes and sayings, combining them with images to produce humorous, satirical, and hopefully interesting work with a pleasant aesthetic quality. There is nothing more satisfying to me than creating a doodle that will make someone smile. Matt Andrews has worked in the art and design industry for the past 15 years, doing everything from painting, printmaking, running a graphic design business, creating T-shirt designs, running an Etsy store, creating microstock illustrations and digital clip art, and designing patterns and designs for products on websites such as Redbubble and Society6. He is currently a marketing manager for artist Tracie Andrews (his partner in life and art), while also getting his little sticky note doodle creations out into the world.
