Description

Excerpt from The Life of Sir Arthur Pearson Lady (arthiir) pearson and her son, Sir Neville Pearson, did me the great honour to suggest that I should write this life of the man whom I served for some years and for whom I had the most sincere affection and admiration. I am greatly indebted to them for the information with which they have provided me and for much helpful criticism, but the book is entirely mine, and I am alone responsible for its estimates and its judgments. No biography of Sir Arthur Pearson could possibly have been written without the aid of my friend Ernest Kessell, Sir Arthur's secretary for over thirty seven years, who has been most generous in collecting dates and facts for my use. I am under particular Obligation to W. A. Vvood ward, Sir Arthur Pearson's cousin and his most intimate friend. I also desire to express my thanks to A. W. Rider, Ralph Blumenfeld, Sir Harry Brittain, H. A. Gwynne, H. W. Wilson, Ernest Williams, P. W. Everett, Gerard Fiennes, Frank Lamburn, Sir Ernest hodder-williams, and Captain and Mrs. Ian Fraser. The officials of the Tariff Reform League were good enough to supply me with much useful information, and Iam also indebted to Mr. Austen Chamberlain and Sir William Ingram.
