Description

The Last Trapper is a fun story about life in northern Michigan. It is a great story about memories of growing up. The Last Trapper tells the story of people that impact our lives when we are young. Jacob is the last of his kind. He is an old fur trapper and the last of his descendants to live on his ancestorsa land given to them by treaty. In a small community where people are moving toward a modern life, Jacob does not change. Jacob is a reminder of the way things used to be. A young boy brings him food and supplies from town and is told by his family to stop and check on Jacob every day after school. Every day Jacob tells the child a story as he helps the man where he can. Sometimes they go on an adventure into the woods. Every day the boy learns about life when he is with Jacob. The old trapper is worried about his own death coming soon. No one takes Jacob seriously when he talks about death, at least not until he becomes ill. Jacobas life leaves a mark that one young boy will not forget.
