I enjoy the Black Powder/Pike and Shotte/Hail Caesar set of games, and this is a useful supplement to Black Powder, combining a general overview of the period with special rules, but tries to cover too much material and gives one list for each of the armies for the entire century, despite the rapid changes in warfare- and fails to make adjustments to the rules for the effect of the changes. However one can always tweak these rules according to one's interpretation of history, and retire with the port to discuss the tactical differences occasioned by the standardisation of cannon, et cetera.
