Description

Presenting a basic course in the management of human resources, this book draws on the Asian traditions of leadership and strategy. It includes excerpts from Confucius, Lao Tzu, Sun Tzu, and the I Ching, and shows how leaders in business and politics can learn from these ancient philosophical traditions. A translation of a less well-known text, "The Thirty-Six Strategies", which summarises the key techniques of the Asian "art of advantage", is also included along with introductions to Taoism, Confucianism, and "The Art of War".

Author Biography:

Thomas Cleary holds a PhD in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University and a JD from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law. He is the translator of over fifty volumes of Buddhist, Taoist, Confucian, and Islamic texts from Sanskrit, Chinese, Japanese, Pali, and Arabic.
