The new regents employed the three firft years oftheir adminiflration in reducing the Earl of Albemarle, and i'ome other turbulent barons, to order, and in quelling and punifhing fome dangerous mutinies ofthe Londoners. In doing this they exercifed fome acts of power and fevererity, by which they gave great offence; particularly, by commanding one Conftantine, an audacious incendiary, and fome other ringleaders of the London mob, to be hanged without a formal trial.
