Description

Jack, Olive, and Violet continue their adventures. From England to New York City to the Azores and Kashmir, they struggle to repair the new telegraph line damaged in a horrendous geomagnetic storm. There is a somber message for society in a strange and perplexing world that exists on an island of hope near the South Pole. From one end of the world to the next the hair-raising adventure is matched by a certain somber undertone. This book is meant for the thinking high school senior. The sadness is matched by the jovial crew who fights against all odds at the South Pole to rescue scientists from imminent death. Meant as a light-hearted adventure it gives pause to the great weight of the world born on the shoulders of the young people. The author advocates for science as the subtext in the novel inviting the reader in to a world they, too, can achieve. Book focuses on the end of the 19th c. and the turn of the 20th c. with all the hope and dreams for a better, more peaceful world.
