"Good comprehensive factual journey"

From the begining to the end this documentary was stimulating with the facts along with the descriptive harsh reality including the weather, shocking ill equipment of the soliders, poor rations and the suicidal tenacity for them to carry on through with the huge death toll to achieve very little.

"Excellent, well-balanced coverage" Purchased on Mighty Ape

I consider that this is an excellent, well-balanced coverage of an event of high importance to Australasians and Turks. It also shows the horrors of war and how bad decisions and mistakes ruin the lives of many, not only on the front line but on the home front. My father did not fight at Gallipoli but was wounded, and lost a brother, at Passchendaele.

"A poignant insight into a war of mutual respect & understanding" Purchased on Mighty Ape

This is a beautifully told documentary of the Gallipoli campaign where ANZAC soldiers invaded Turkey and a battle against the Turks ensued. The terraine was hard, orders were sometimes haphazard and thousands of young men were killed. The soldiers' experiences are told with the skilled use of 2 narrators and interlaced with first-person accounts from survivors – ANZACs and Turks. A camaraderie between opposing sides developed, interspersed with fierce fighting. The young soldiers' experiences are beautifully told and it is a truly human account presented in a very balanced way. With New Zealand's ever increasing interest in commemorating our soldiers' courageous stories and the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign fast approaching it is a must

I understand clearly, for the first time, the wretched situations both sides of this impossible battle faced. A moving historical documentary, simply superb.
