The Eyes of My Mother
Eyes of My Mother is the story of Francisca, a young, lonely woman who becomes consumed by her deepest and darkest desires after tragedy strikes her quiet country life. Raised by her mother, a former surgeon from Portugal, trained in anatomy and taught to be unfazed by death, young Francisca's idyllic life is shattered with the arrival of a mysterious visitor whose actions deeply traumatize the girl, but also awakening unique, disturbing curiosities.
Though she clings to her increasingly reticent father, Francisca's loneliness and scarred nature converge years later when her longing to connect with the world around her takes on a dark form.
Critic Reviews:
- " The Eyes of My Mother is an insightful, meaningful, and exquisitely beautiful horror film, and undoubtedly one of the genre's most important offerings of 2016. " – Alexandra Heller-Nicholas
- " The running time – or lack thereof – is a problem, but this otherwise perfectly ghoulish exercise marks Nicolas Pesce and his crew as talents to keep track of. " – Tara Brady
- " With The Eyes of My Mother, Pesce explores the nature of human instinct and arrested development in a way that is uncomfortable to watch yet immersive just the same. " – Candice Frederick
