The Duke
In 1961, Kempton Bunton, a 60 year old taxi driver, steals Goya's portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London.
Critic Reviews:
- " The Duke is a heartwarming film that deftly tackles classism, coming to terms with grief, and the indignity of racial slights. Jim Broadbent delights as an irrepressible dreamer. The Duke is a ray of cinematic light. " – Julian Roman (MovieWeb)
- " Old-fashioned it may be, but the revolutionary spirit of this gloriously absurd comedy about a masterpiece that was borrowed for the greater good, a crime caper with roots in British social realism and in Ealing classic comedies, will sit well at any time. " – Jane Freebury (The Canberra Times, Australia)
- " A crowd-pleasing, funny and charming throwback to Ealing Studios' classic British comedies. It will make you stand up and cheer. Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren are terrific. " – Avi Offer (NYC Movie Guru)
