Description

Excerpt from The Detection of Criminal Abortion, and a Study of Foeticidal Drugs The luxury of an abortion is now within the reach of the serving-girl. An old man in this city performs this service for ten dollars, and takes his pay in instal manta. Let the following instance illustrate the reckless dis regard some women, who possess this moral obliquity, have of the rights of the husband. It is only a year or so ago, that a woman, young and interesting, and the wife of 'a young medical man, came to me for such a purpose. When I stated the certainty of detection by her hus band, from the symptoms, she informed me, to my great surprise, that she had once successfully carried out such a plan of deception. Her husband supposed the i' show was a healthy renewal of her menses, which are often times profuse, after an interruption of two or three months. I watched her from the window of my office, and saw her enter the den of a notorious abortionist nearly opposite. I have no doubt of her success in again deceiving her husband. He was a man of aver age medical attainment, and had served as a surgeon during the late war. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
