Description

The Czaras Last Soldier is the story of the Star of Golconda, a 42.5-carat diamond slightly smaller than the Hope diamond that was buried on the island of Corregidor during World War II. Years later, while working at a Nebraska post office, Sam Gibbons and Roscoe Barnes find an old letter. The letter, from a marine who died on Corregidor, gives the particulars of a jewel theft he committed at the Shanghai Officeras Club in 1941. Shortly after the theft, the marineas regiment is transferred to the Philippines. After Pearl Harbor is attacked, the regiment is tasked to defend Corregidor. When the order to surrender is given, not wanting the Japanese to gloom onto the stolen jewels, the marine buries them. Sam and Roscoe eventually find the jewels. They are unaware they were stolen from a czarist officer and are thrust into the middle of an international legal battle.
