I have therefore given all the facts known to me, which can be of value in holding the injurious insects in check. It should be a part of the education of a farmer, to dis cover his friends and enemies among the insect tribes, and to do this, there is no better way than to raise those which trouble his crops, carrying them through all their transforma tions, in order to enable him to recognize them in any stage of their existence, and to discover the most vulnerable stage in their lives, or the one in which they may be most easily destroyed.
