Description

Tasting the sting of prejudice his entire life Chris San Croix, a Native American, has climbed the corporate ladder and achieved apparent respect in the law firm of Smart &, Nash, the region's industry leader in contractual law. Within his tribe, his grandfather, Charlie San Croix has neared the end of his life and begins mentoring Chris to take over as both the spiritual and physical leader of the tribe. He sees Chris as a strong leader who he considers more than able to maintain the honored old ways while melding the tribe into an age and culture much different from the times of their past. When the United States Government decides they want part of the San Croix land, they begin dealing with Chris's partners thinking this will pressure Chris into advocating to the tribal council for the government's cause. As Chris is torn between protecting his people and protecting his job, what will happen to the land his tribe has worked so hard to protect for centuries, land that was so very sacred to his people? What will happen to their cherished traditions? In the struggle between the melding of cultures, will Chris maintain the treasured courageous spirit of his people and uplift their spirituality or will he pursue his dream that gave his immediate family a good life? The final question is; how will this Native American family adjust to danger, betrayal, murder and reconciliation in their passionate search for their family's treasured legacy? Is there justice for Chris and the San Croix? The surprising answers prove the resiliency of American determination, which began with the undeniable triumphant faith represented in the Native American spirit.
