Author Biography:

Welcome to the Adam and Eve Stories. I used to be a farmer. I used to be and sometimes I still am, a teacher. I have often enjoyed reading in French and my favourite French tales have to be Les Contes du Chat Perché by Marcel Amyé. I could never better them but I began writing these stories several years ago after 'creating' the characters of Adam and Eve and God. I was trying to get my children to write original stories and I figured the best way to encourage them was to write one myself. With that I wrote How the Days of the Week Got Their Names and accident prone Adam was born. Of course, I didn't really create the characters (all credit to the Almighty upstairs for that) but I breathed something into them and they started to have ideas and do things of their own. New characters came along the most important of which was Dog. Fifteen more stories followed over ten years: I am not a fast writer. As Adam's relationship with God naturally developed some became darker than others, but with God and Eve's help Adam is still doing fine, he careers from one disaster to the next, but every time he makes a little progress. We haven't got as far as The Apple yet; it's a story I don't want to write; I prefer to spend time in the Garden of Eden with Dog and Adam. As the stories started to mount up I asked Stephanie Clark to illustrate them. Stephanie developed a cave man style of illustration which perfectly represented the characters and to some extent they live through the pictures she created. There was always going to have to be a French version. Fortunately, my wife writes and speaks better English and French than I do.
