"The funniest book ever!!"

Purchased on Mighty Ape

I bought this to gift to my sister, but I don't know if I can give it to her now! This is hilarious, I love the Twitter feed, and have seen them in emails. Highly recommended!

Maybe I'm too old to understand it but it didn't seem very funny to me. I was going to give it to my granddaughter but thought it a bit weird.

Description

The first book of October Jones' internet sensation Texts From Dog, containing over 100 brand new texts.

In April 2012, English animator Joe Butcher discovered he could send text messages to HIMSELF on his mobile phone. Naturally, Butcher decided that the best use for this feature would be to send passive aggressive messages to his fictional alter ego October Jones, under the guise of Cooper, his British Bulldog. A classic tale of Man & Dog for the gadget driven internet generation.

After taking screenshots of his canine conversations, Butcher posted them to his 10,000 Twitter followers, then created a Tumblr, which attracted over 80,000 followers in a month. Now the further exploits of Dog and his weary owner have been brought together in this hilarious book, which includes over 100 texts not seen on the website.

‘Brilliant’ – Mark Gatiss (Writer/Actor; BBC's ‘Sherlock’, ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘The League of Gentlemen’)

‘Texts From Dog’ is my new favourite thing" – Graham Linehan (Writer; ‘Father Ted’, ‘Black Books’, ‘The IT Crowd’)

About the Author

Joe Butcher (October Jones) was born and raised in Birmingham, England. Ironically, he spent most of his childhood terrified of dogs.

Joe developed a keen interest in visual storytelling at school, and he attended the University of Wolverhampton where he came away with a shiny first class degree in animation.

Joe eventually landed a job at a small media company in Derby, where to this day he designs learning software for kids.

He has recently worked on animation projects for the BBC, as well as doing music videos for UK comedy band ‘The Amateur Transplants’

Despite being almost 30 years old, Joe has wonderful Lego Star Wars collection and no girlfriend. These two facts are not connected. He currently lives in Stourbridge with his bulldog ‘Cooper’.

Author Biography:

October Jones was born and raised in Birmingham, England, where, ironically, he spent most of his childhood terrified of dogs. He has recently worked on animation projects for the BBC, as well as doing music videos for UK comedy band The Amateur Transplants. Dog is the runt of a five-puppy litter born on a farm in Wales. He was the last to be sold, and arrived in Birmingham slighted and grouchy. He spends most of his time napping, snacking, trying to figure out who the second dog in the bedroom mirror is, and, of course, texting.
