You will notice that wherever there is a right there is a duty on the part of others to respect that right. As soon as you can claim a right to any object, all others must have the duty of not interfer ing with the right by taking the Object from you. If you have established the right to a piece of property, immediately there is the duty of others not to build upon that property. When you graduate from school you get your diploma. You have a right to it. Does not this impose upon others the duty of not taking it from you? These ideas are so simple that you may wonder why I insist upon them. I reply that if you agree with me upon these and a few other fundamental principles, we shall have little difficulty in our ethical teaching or practice.
